Steel jacket for Ivar Aasen platform lifted into place

    Projects and Operations // June 30, 2015

Det Norsk says the steel jacket for the Ivar Aasen platform was lifted into place earlier this month, and is now ready to be completed with the platform deck, which is under production at the SMOE yard in Singapore. First oil is expected in the fourth quarter 2016.

The Ivar Aasen field is located in the Utsira High area of the North Sea and is expected to reach peak production of about 75,000 barrels oil equivalents per day. The field has an anticipated economic life of 20 years, of which Det Norske’s share is 34.8 per cent.

The heavy lift vessel Thialf lowered the steel jacket to the seabed at a depth of 112m.
