Global Maritime designs for Baoham OffshoreVessel & ROV News // June 24, 2015
Global Maritime Group says it is working with Baoham Offshore (HK) Ltd, which is building of the first jack-up liftboat based on Global Maritime design.
Two more newbuilds have now been initiated: another jack-up and a semi submersible drilling rig. Both new units also based on Global Maritime Group designs and classed by ABS.
Global Maritime Consultancy & Engineering in London and Stavanger are executing the Baoham Offshore contracts.
Baoham Offshore is set to become the first privately-owned offshore vessel owner in China with Global Maritime Group as design partner. Baoham Offshore plans to expand its fleet of offshore units further and become a major player in the expanding Southeast Asian offshore market.
The company has a first jack-up under construction at the Paxocean shipyard in Zhoushan, China. Global Maritime Group is well underway with designing the second unit based on its GM-J1450 design.
Global Maritime Group is also developing the semi submersible drilling unit based on its GM-4E design, with a view to signing a commercial agreement shortly. Baoham Offshore has yet to select a shipyard to construct the semisubmersible unit.
The GM-4E mid-water semi submersible drilling unit will have an eight-point mooring system and Class 3 dynamic positioning, and will feature a variable deck load that exceeds 4,000 tonnes.
The GM-J1450 liftboat has a water depth capability of 80m and will be equipped with a 400 tonne deck crane.
