Ro-ro being converted into cable layer

    Vessel & ROV News // May 7, 2015

The conversion of Maram is due to be completed later this year.

The former ro-ro vessel Mosa is being converted into a cable-laying and maintenance vessel, Maram, at Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory in Abu Dhabi.

In cooperation with Wärtsilä Ship Design Norway AS, Hamburg-based TECHNOLOG has been tasked with consulting and supervision of the comprehensive conversion project by cable lay company E-Marine PJSC in Dubai.

Maram was launched at the end of January 2015 and is currently docked at the outfitting quay in Abu Dhabi harbour, where conversion will be completed under the supervision of a TECHNOLOG technical team.

Having undergone a total refit, the vessel is equipped with three large cable holds, a substantial cable laying system and comprehensive lifting gear as well as a remotely operated vehicle.

Delivery of the ship is due to take place later this year.
