    Time "running out" for Appledore?

    Yard News // September 29, 2003
One of the owners of Appledore shipyard in Devon in the UK has told BBC Online that "time is running out to find new orders."

A recent report on BBC News Online said employees at Appledore Shipyard, a well known builder of a wide range of vessels, including offshore supply vessels, are currently on reduced hours as they wait for new work.

John Langham, who is joint shareholder with Jim Wilson, told the BBC that unless an order was signed very soon, the company would close as they could not continue making heavy losses.

However, he also said he was still hopeful that one of two potential orders would save the jobs of more than 550 skilled workers.
