Danish, British and Norwegian firms collaborate on offshore wind power

    News // September 29, 2003
The Danish energy company DONG, the UK energy company Centrica, and Statkraft in Norway have acquired Barrow Offshore Wind Farm (BOW).

DONG and Statkraft will each own 37.5 per cent of BOW and Centrica will own 25 per cent of BOW. The transaction is conditional upon EU competition authority approval.

BOW owns the right to build a 90-108 MW offshore windfarm off Barrow-in-Furness on the west coast of England. The offshore wind farm will comprise around 30 3-4 MW wind turbines.

The windfarm is expected to be completed in 2004 or 2005 and to produce approximately 310 GWh per year.
