Seajacks Hydra commissioned at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam

    Vessel & ROV News // September 11, 2014

Seajacks Hydra, a jack-up vessel owned by Seajacks UK Ltd, was commissioned recently, over a period of just 10 days, at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam, part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion.

In late July, a heavy-lift vessel shipped Seajacks Hydra into the port of Rotterdam. The vessel was then was towed to the repair yard for what the yard described as a "time constrained project" since the vessel had to be delivered to a project which started in August. In spite of the tight schedule, Hydra was delivered on time. The scope of work included installation of four azimuthing thrusters.

Seajacks Hydra was jacked-up 8m above the water surface, while divers kept an eye on the process and the soil conditions. Jacking-up is permitted on only a limited number of locations in the Port of Rotterdam.

Seajacks is a regular client at Shipdock Amsterdam, also part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion.
