Twin Marine Lifter concept resurfaces in Chinese joint venture

    Vessel & ROV News // September 3, 2014

Shandong Shipping has reportedly reached an agreement with Twin Marine Heavylift AS in Norway to establish a joint venture, Shandong Twin Marine, which will own and operate a version of the Twin Marine Lifter (TML), vessels and associated equipment, for the installation and removal of large offshore structures and other services.

Reports claim that development of the first TML System is "on schedule for construction to begin later this year" and for the system to be fully operational by 2017.

Shandong Shipping will reportedly arrange all financing for the first TML System.

Twin Marine Heavylift was founded in 2010 after a acquisition of Twin Marine Lifter technology, IP Rights and the design of the TML lift arm system. In addition, Twin Marine Heavylift owns the design of DP3 multipurpose transportation vessels to be utilized for the TML lift system and as construction support vessels.

The TML system has a maximum marine lifting capacity of 34,000 tonnes.
