New ROV makes its debut in HoustonVessel & ROV News // June 23, 2014
FMC Technologies' Schilling Robotics latest ROV - the UHD-III system - made its debut at OTC in Houston in May.
The UHD-III has been developed to meet the demand for a system that meets API Standard 53 for secondary intervention on blowout preventers (BOPs).
Among other features, it has an ISOL-8 Pump that was selected to receive a prestigious Spotlight on New Technology Award from OTC.
This unique pumping system provides up to 5,000psi at 50gpm (189.5 liter/min), as well as the ability to carry 100 gallons (454 liters) of intervention fluid.
FMC says this is the only ROV capable of providing this level of hydraulic power for BOP intervention.
It performs additional tasks, such as well intervention and hydrate remediation.
The UHD-III will also be exhibited at ONS in Stavanger, Norway in August. The event takes place 25-28 August and FMC is at Booth E-513.
