New premises for mooring and chain firms

International Mooring Systems (IMS) and ChainCo, both divisions of The Craig Group have officially opened new premises in Aberdeen. The global shipping and oilfield services group has invested £600,000 in the office and yard facility at Tern Place in theBridge of Don.IMS specialises in the rental, sale and management of mooring equipment to the international offshore and marine sectors. ChainCo was acquired by The Craig Group in 2000 to complement the services offered by IMS. The market leader in chain testing, equipment and inspection, ChainCo has five purpose built mobile chain inspection units and one chain inspection vessel.
The facility was officially opened by Brian Nixon, director of energy at Scottish Enterprise. Following the opening ceremony, clients, suppliers and VIP guests will enjoy a barbecue and entertainment from a live band.
In addition to the two acre site comprising newly modernised office accommodation and yard, The Craig Group has also commissioned a new mobile inspection unit for ChainCo. Being built by Weatherford in Aberdeen, the new unit will be more compact and easier to transport and incorporate improved hydraulic and safety systems.
