Marine Asset Corporation (MAC), the company behind the Compact Semi-Submersible (CSS) design, has provided an update on its newbuild programme.
The first in class, CSS Olympia, is in the final stages of clean-up and polish in readiness for handover to her new owner scheduled on 20 January 2014. The vessel was sold on delivery to Brazilian interests who have secured a long term contract with Petrobras.
The Second CSS, which is a maintenance vessel, is progressing well towards a scheduled delivery in June 2014. Her new Brunei owner has already secured a five year contract with Shell Brunei.
The third and forth units, CSS Venus and CSS Themis, which are sisters to Olympia, are also advancing well with delivery scheduled for August and December 2014, respectively.
MAC has a further three CCS units under contract at Fujian Mawei shipyard. Numbers 5 and 6 will be the Maintainer variant of the CSS, with Number 7 being another maintenance vessel. All of which will be delivered in 2015.
MAC said the interest in the cost-effective CSS concept continues to grow, and MAC is expecting to place orders for more CSS variants in the coming months.
