    Sale of deepwater company completed

    News // January 15, 2001
The transfer of Aker Maritime's Deepwater Company business area to Coflexip Stena Offshore has been formally confirmed, in accordance with the agreement made by the companies last October.

As announced earlier, the price paid for the Deepwater Company was $625 million.

The sale enables Aker Maritime to free capital to the value of NOK 5.9 billion and gives the group a pre-tax gain of NOK 3.7 billion, as estimated previously. This is equivalent to NOK 65 per share. The gain has been booked with effect from October 2000.

Following disposal of the Deepwater Company, and the agreed sale of the seismic activities of Aker Geo Seismic, Aker Maritime consists of two business areas: Aker Oil & Gas, and Products and Well Services.
