Norwegian parliament votes in favour of drilling in Barents SeaNews // August 20, 2013
Following reports two months ago on parts of the Barents Sea being opened for oil exploration, the
Norwegian parliament has voted in favour of the area being included in the next licensing round.
Broker Westshore said the region in question in the southeast of the Barents Sea covers an area of 44,000km2.
2At present limited seismic data exists, partly due to conflicts with local fishermen and stringent environmental considerations," said the broker. "However given the plans for the area seismic surveys are likely to be the first step."
