Market awaits next round of Petrobras tendersNews // July 5, 2013
Brazil will be in the spotlight again in the near future, as the market waits for the fifth round of Petrobras’ yearly newbuild tender which is expected to be issued in July.
Seabrokers reports that the requirement is expected to request the provision of vessels within the following Petrobras chartering categories: PSV 4500, AHTS 15000T, AHTS 15000TO, AHTS 18000 and AHTS 21000.
"The greatest demand is expected to come within the AHTS 18000 and AHTS 15000T categories," said Seabrokers. "Owners can offer multiple vessels of different types, and charter durations of four, six or eight years plus options will be on offer. Contract commencement will be scheduled three years from contract award for PSVs and four years from contract award for AHTS vessels."
As Seabrokers noted, one interesting point to note in this tender will be the possibility for owners to have access to Brazilian finance from the government via the Merchant Marine Fund (FMM). Up to 90 per cent financing loans may be available, with interest rates between 2 per cent and 4 per cent per annum, and an amortisation period of up to 20 years.
