British yard to market and build air-supported vessels

    Yard News // July 4, 2013

Alnmaritec, the UK-based boatbuilder, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Norwegian company Effect Ships International (ESI) in order to exploit market opportunities related to the commercial application of ESI’s patented Air Supported Vessel (ASV) technology.

The agreement gives Alnmaritec the rights in the UK to the manufacture and sales of vessels utilising this technology with the possibility to market and sell these vessels worldwide, and provides an important stepping stone for further development of the technology within the framework of the commercial workboat market.

Alnmaritec’s Managing Director, Chris Millman, said: "I am really energized at the prospect of working with ESI on developing this technology – I see great opportunities for its use in the commercial boat market for applications such as passenger ferries, fast patrol boats and even windfarm service vessels, to name but a few.”

Ulf Tudem, General Manager of ESI, said: "We considered carefully  before choosing our UK partner – I was very impressed with Alnmaritec, in particular their innovative approach and their ability to develop tailor-made design solutions. I am very much looking forward to co-operating with them on the next phase of design development for our ASV concept."
