SapuraKencana/Seadrill win Petrobras pipelay contracts

SapuraKencana/Seadrill have secured contracts for three pipelay support vessels (PLSVs) with Petrobras. The contracts, awarded to the companies joint venture, Sapura Navegação Marítima,  have a value of circa US$2.7 biilion. The contracts are for a period of eight years with an extension option for an additional eight years and ares expected to commence by the second quarter of 2016.

According to broker Nor-Ocean Offshore, more contracts could soon be awarded. "Technip is also involved in the tender together with DOF (50/50) with a total of six vessels, while Subsea 7 also is bidding three vessels," it said.

The three SapuraKencana/Seadrill vessels will be constructed in Holland by IHC Merwede.
