More trencher work for OSBIT Engineered

    Company News // May 14, 2013

OSBIT Engineered (OE) in the UK has started work on its latest trenching equipment contract, providing trenching specialists DeepOcean UK with upgrades to a third vehicle.

Following the successful delivery of previous contracts to upgrade the T1 and T2 trenchers in 2012, this new project involves rapid design, manufacture and commissioning of cable handling upgrades to DeepOcean’s 1.5MW PT-1 trencher.

The upgrades, which will be integrated into the vehicles existing systems, will allow the vehicle to be used to safely trench a small diameter, low stiffness cable for an upcoming installation campaign. Rapid delivery is required ahead of Deepocean’s operations in summer 2013.

The company said: "OE’s engineers have broad experience in the design of trenching vehicles from many suppliers, a fact that allows the company to rapidly supply effective and elegant solutions for vehicle modification and upgrade projects, as well as advising clients on the most effective modifications to allow the trenching assets they own to be used on projects outside of their original specification."

OE continues to expand and its diverse range of experience in supplying equipment for the offshore and subsea sectors has recently been employed on a range of projects for its growing client list including A-frame upgrades, winch systems and a series of bespoke fatigue test rigs for a major blue chip client.
