    Fugro AUV working offshore Nigeria

    Fugro Survey Ltd say it is using conventional shipborne techniques as well as an autonomous underwater vehicle for a major seabed survey contract off Nigeria.

    The surveys are for Total Upstream Nigeria in support of the Akpo field.

    Engineering survey data is being gathered to determine the optimum pipeline route to connect the more than 1,400-meter-deep field to an existing shallow water pipeline system closer to shore.

    Fugro said the company's survey vessel Geo Prospector is deploying the Explorer AUV on the deep water sections of the job, and AUV that operates at depths of up to 1,500m.
