BAE Systems starts work on Jackson PSVsYard News // April 5, 2013
Construction begun last month at BAE Systems in the US on the first of two platform supply vessels (PSVs)for Jackson Offshore Operators. Construction of the second vessel is scheduled to begin later this year.
When complete, the entire first vessel will have a deadweight of 3,500 tonnes, a length of 252ft and breadth of 60ft. Both vessels will be used to support offshore drilling operations.
The GPA 675J platform supply vessel design was provided by Guido Perla & Associates, of Seattle, Washington. The vessels will include an integrated Rolls-Royce ship systems package inclusive of low-voltage active front end diesel-electric systems, and a complete Rolls-Royce propulsion package with Azipull propulsion thrusters.
