    Key role for ABS on new liftboat

    A team of experienced ABS engineers in Dubai has been working on the Levingston 320EX self-elevating liftboat that will be built for Gulf Piping Company of Abu Dhabi.

    Steel cutting for this mobile offshore unit (MOU) took place in November 2012 with delivery targeted for March 2014.

    The liftboat has 320ft of leg length, an open deck area of 11,000ft2, a deck load capacity of 680 tonnes and accommodation for 160.

    The 320EX vessel will have a liftboat jacking system designed by Levingston and EBI and will utilize EBI’s 12-tooth pinion jacking system technology. It will be fitted with two 220 tonne leg-encircling, pedestal-mounted cranes.

    The liftboat’s capabilities include platform service and maintenance, well intervention, plug and abandonment, offshore coiled tubing and wind turbine installation and service
