Farstad Shipping has, through its wholly owned subsidiary Farstad Supply, reached an agreement with STX OSV AS to build a subsea/IMR vessel.

The newbuilding is part of Farstad Shipping's expansion into the subsea market and represents an investment of approximately NKr 825 million. Delivery of the vessel will take place in the first quarter of 2015.

The vessel is a STX OSV OSCV 07 design subsea construction vessel intended for subsea and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) operations.

The vessel has a total length of 143m, beam of 25m and a deck area of more than 1,800m². It will be equipped with two offshore cranes, of which the larger one has a lifting capacity of 250 tonnes. It will also be arranged for three ROVs and has an accommodation for 130 persons.

The hull of the vessel will be built by STX OSV in Tulcea, Romania and outfitting will take place at STX OSV in Tomrefjord (Langsten).
