Reef Subsea has signed a five-year plus options charter for a newbuild subsea construction vessel owned by Olympic Shipping in Norway.
The vessel, to be named Olympic Reef, is being built by Kleven Maritime in Norway, and is to be delivered in August 2013. The vessel is a MT 6022 MkII.
To be able to better serve the IMR and subsean market the vessel is being equipped with a 250 tonne and a 50 ton active heave compensated offshore crane in addition to two work-class ROVs.
The vessel will have a deck area of 1,300m2 and moonpool of 7.2m x 7.2m. It will be equipped with a shelter deck for the addition of an Observation-class ROV, and have accommodation and facilities for a total of 110 people.
A number of enhancements are being made to the vessel's initial specifications. These include helideck loading of 15 tonnes, gangways on both sides of the vessel, and increased power and utility stations on the main deck.
