The AHTS is the first of four of this type for Martens Marine.
On 7 November Yuexin shipyard in China delivered a newbuild anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel to Martens Marine.
The 58.7m vessel was built to ABS class and is a Khiam Chuan Marine design. The vessel has a bollard pull of 67.2 tonnes and can carry 475m3 of fuel oil, 230m3 of fresh water, 187m3 of dry bulk and 250m3 of mud. The vessel has a maximum speed of 13.5 knots.
Power is provided by twin Caterpillar main engines each rated at 1,920kW at 1,600rpm, driving a pair of ZF controllable pitch propellers. Electrical power is supplied by two 350kW Caterpillar diesel-driven generators with a C4.4 CAT emergency generator. Manoeuvrability is enhanced by a twin 8 tonne Kawasaki bow thruster.
The vessel is the first 58.7m AHTS built by Yuexin for Martens Marine. The yard is contracted to build three more of the same type.
