Alnmaritec delivers line handling boat for Ghana

    Vessel & ROV News // September 4, 2012

Alnmaritec in the UK recently delivered hull number 149, a new line handling boat for operations off an FPSO in a production field off the coast of Ghana.

This is the third of the new larger Wave Handler design to be built by Alnmaritec and at just over 12m she has 1,000 bhp of installed power.

She is fitted with Twin ‘Traktor Jets’ from North American Marine Jets designed specifically to give her an exceptionally high bollard pull for line handling work whilst retaining all the advantages of a water jet propulsion package and for further control she has twin command stations fitted both forward and aft.

The line handler has a 2 tonne hydraulic capstan and a 5 tonne tow post with quick release hook on the spacious aft working deck and she has a bow landing platform for personnel transfer. Internally she has a large air conditioned wheelhouse with passenger seating, a WC and a small galley.

This latest delivery joins a growing number of vessels from Alnmaritec already successfully operating in West Africa.

Commenting on the new delivery, Alnmaritec Managing Director, Chris Millman, said: “We are delighted with the continuing success of our line handling boats in West Africa  and I am confident that she will further enhance the capabilities of the fleet in the region.“
