    Siem Offshore secures charter for dual-fuel PSV

    Siem Offshore has been awarded a contract by Total E&P Norge for a new dual-fuelled, large PSV.

    The PSV will be operated from 2014 and serve the Martin Linge field in the North Sea.

    This is the first long-term PSV contract Siem Offshore has secured with Total.

    The compan y said the agreement is made "at market terms "and is for an initial period of four years, with four one-year options.

    The contract will commence between May and August 2014. The vessel is being designed in collaboration with Wärtsilä Ship Design, and will have a dual fuel system for the use of LNG or Marine Diesel Oil.

    Siem Offshore said the vessel "will be equipped with the most modern solutions for fire-fighting and emergency preparedness," and will have a deck area of 968m2.

    The owner said it has received firm offers from yards for the construction of the vessel.
