Westshore opens office in Canada

Broker Westshore says that following its success in Rio de Janeiro with the opening of Westshore Do Brasil in 2010 it has opened an office in St John's Newfoundland, in order to assist with ship brokerage projects in the North Atlantic and Arctic areas.

"Our connections to offshore owners with arctic capable tonnage are a good match for the current trends in the Canadian oshore market. We will provide operators with a solid source of tonnage from the global market," said the comapny.

"Through the opening of this office we intend to build our local knowledge of the operators and owners in the region, and develop strong relationships with the players in the industry."

A native Newfoundlander has joined Westshore from Provincial Aerospace Ltd to run the Canadian office. Darrel Cole has been appointed Managing Director of Westshore Arctic.

In his earlier role he was manager of the International Ice Center which covers oshore operations on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and Greenland.

His previous experience includes time with Transocean in Houston, Texas implementing a computerized maintenance programs for oil rigs, and providing training for oce and oshore supervisors globally.

"Although he has a lot of international experience, a large portion of his career has been spent in the offshore industry in Canada," said Westshore, "including more than a decade spent as an offshore communications specialist."
