Sonardyne Inc.receives first 6G order

Survey Equipment Services (SES) has announced that Hydroquip has acquired Sonardyne International Ltd’s 6G acoustic positioning technology.
The order for ROVNav 6 LBL transceivers and Compatt 6 positioning transponders will be added to the SES rental pool in Katy, Texas. SES is part owned by Hydroquip and acts as Hydroquip’s agent.
SES specialises in the supply of marine navigation and hydrographic survey equipment.
Gary Sayers, Engineering Manager at SES said, “This is our first investment in 6G although we have previously bought Sonardyne products for our equipment pool.
"This purchase is in recognition of the growing demand for 6G within the Gulf of Mexico and it will reinforce our position as a leading supplier of subsea positioning technology."
6G products utilise Sonardyne’s ultra-wideband width, digital ranging and telemetry protocols developed to increase the precision, speed and reliability of acoustic positioning and aided inertial navigation operations. The platform was designed to deliver significant operational savings, allowing multi-user subsea construction survey tasks to be completed in less time than was previously possible.
