Atlantic Towing acquires vessel from Jaya

Atlantic Towing Limited (ATL) has acquired a new anchor handling tug supply vessel, the largest vessel in the company’s fleet.
Acquired from Jaya Holdings, Atlantic Towing is expected to take delivery of the vessel on 01 September 2012. The name of the new ship has yet to be determined. Twenty-four new jobs will be created as a result of the new crews required for the new ship. The vessel will be based in St John’s, New Foundland.
The vessel is a Wartsila-designed VS 4622 CD anchor handling tug/ supply vessel with 16,300 bhp and Ice Class 1A giving it the ability to navigate in moderate level ice conditions and northern regions.
The ship has been designed to Norwegian Maritime Directorate standards and carries Clean Design notation from DNV.
