    Rodriguez starts work on new lift boat

    C & S Lift Boats has ordered a 145ft x 110ft lift boat with a 12ft moulded depth from Rodriguez Boat Builders of Bayou La Batre, Alabama.

    The main engines will be a pair of Cummins KTA38M1s each delivering 1,000hp at 1,800rpm.

    The vessel's hydraulics will be powered by a pair of KTA19M4 engines each rated for 700hp at 2,100rpm, whilst electrical demands will be met by a pair of Cummins 6CTA8,3DM engines powering 175kW generators.

    The boat, designed by A K Suda of Metarie, Louisiana, will have jack-up legs 265ft long with 102in diameter.

    The boat will have a 100 ton and a 50 ton deck crane and will be capable of a 500 ton deck load.

    Accommodation on the ABS-classed lift boat, to be named Jacob, will be provided for 48 people.
