    Technip delivers world's first cell spar to Kerr-McGee

    Technip has announced that Technip Offshore Inc has successfully completed and delivered a cell spar to Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp for the Red Hawk project in 877 of the Gulf of Mexico.

    Red Hawk is a 50/50 partnership between Kerr-McGee and Devon, with Kerr-McGee as operator.

    The 560ft (171m) long hull structure, composed of seven 20ft (6m) diameter rolled steel tubes, was engineered and built in the US in several sections at Technip's Gulf Marine Fabricators in Ingleside, Texas.

    It has been installed in 5,300ft of water in Kerr-McGee's deepest field development to date.
