STX Finland launches innovative multipurpose vessel

March saw the launch of a multipurpose deck cargo vessel at STX Finland Turku shipyard. The vessel is approximately 105.4m with a breadth of 18.8m and is due to be delivered this month to Gaiamare Ltd, a subsidiary of Meriaura Group.
The environmentally friendly multipurpose vessel is designed to operate globally and can be utilised for various tasks including transport of demanding project cargo such as offshore windfarm structures.
The ice class 1A vessel will be able to operate efficiently in demanding sub-Arctic conditions. The vessel is also capable of operating as an oil spill response unit and can use biofuels as well as conventional fuel.
