Aker Yards to build PSV for Simon Møkster Shipping

    Yard News // August 6, 2004
Aker Langsten, part of the Aker Yards Group, has signed an agreement with Simon Møkster Shipping AS of Stavanger, Norway, to build a PSV for approximately NKr 200 million.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the second quarter of 2005.

"Simon Møkster Shipping's newbuilding order, which follows our July 2003 delivery to them of the area contingency vessel Stril Poseidon, is a source of great pride for everyone at Langsten," says Jan Sporsem, Aker Langsten's Marketing Manager.

The platform supply vessel ordered by Simon Møkster Shipping is a MT 6000 MK II.

The 3,350 gross ton vessel will be 86m long and was designed by Marin Teknikk, located in Tjørvåg, in the Sunnmøre region of Norway.

The ship features diesel-electric propulsion, and is equipped for standby services and for transporting methanol and other specialized cargo.

It will also have new, optimized hull lines that result in lower fuel consumption.
