    Hart Fenton "integrates" with Houlder

    Company News // April 13, 2012

Hart, Fenton & Company, the Portsmouth, UK-based naval architects and marine design consultancy has announced it is to fully integrate with its parent company, Houlder Limited as of the 2nd of April 2012.

The team will form the core of Houlder’s new Marine Design Consultancy business stream – offering a wider range of specialist resources to the marine industry from one source under the Houlder name.

Hart, Fenton & Company previously operated as a wholly owned subsidiary within the Houlder Group meaning overall ownership, key personnel and management remain the same.

The main outcome of the change, and a key benefit to its clients and the company, is the formation of a centrally co-ordinated Marine Design Consultancy team making the company’s capability more readily available. This is to be managed from the existing Portsmouth office and headed up by Mike Simpson - Hart, Fenton & Company’s Managing Director.

Mr Simpson said: "By integrating two highly capable organisations to create one larger specialist business, we will be better placed to serve both our clients and the marine industry as a whole.”

As of the 2nd of April 2012, the Marine Design Consultancy business stream has been operating under the Houlder Limited name and branding and certain administrative tasks will be undertaken from Houlder’s London headquarters.

Despite these outward changes, the industry will generally experience business as usual from Me Simpson and his team – albeit with a new name and increased resources available to their projects
