Siem Offshore wins first contract in renewables market

Siem Offshore Contractors (SOC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Siem Offshore, has been awarded a contract for the installation of the inner array grid cables and associated services for the Amrumbank West offshore windfarm by Amrumbank West GmbH , a subsidiary of E.ON Climate & Renewables Central Europe.
The contract award marks the company's entry into the offshore renewables market.
The windfarm will be situated in the German Bight sector of the North Sea, north of the island of Helgoland and west of the island of Amrum.
It will consist of of 80 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3.6MW, connected by an inner array grid of 33kV medium voltage (MVAC) cables with a total length of up to 86km.
SOC will be utilising resources from the Siem Offshore group.
The value of the project is approximately US$60 million. SOC will also provide associated services including the marine cable route survey and engineering, route clearance operation and post-installation termination and testing.
Cable installation works are scheduled for mid-2014.
