Sinopacific Shipyard delivers latest newbuilding for BOURBONVessel & ROV News // March 29, 2012
Bahtera Mulia is expected to start work in Southeast Asia shortly.
Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group's Zhejiang Shipbuilding Co Ltd held the naming ceremony for its first self-designed AHTS, Bahtera Mulia, earlier this week.
The SPA 80 AHTS is a diesel-electric, DP2 vessel built for French shipowner BOURBON.
At the same time, Bourbon Liberty 254, the last BOURBON Liberty 200 series vessel, was also delivered.
The SPA 80 retains the core strengths of earlier designs built by Sinopacific for BOURBON, including all-electric propulsion with three diesel generator sets, several thrusters installed at the bow and stern, and DP2 classification.
In the SPA 80 design, however, which BOURBON calls the Bourbon Liberty 300, Sinopacific has introduced a new hull design, including the addition of a bulb.
Compared with the earlier Bourbon Liberty anchor handlers the vessel also has greater capacities and a larger deck.
The SPA 80 is 65.75m overall with a breadth of 16.00m, design draft of 4.30m, deadweight of 1,800 tonnes, service speed of 12.00 knots and bollard pull of 80 tonnes.
