GL Noble Denton establishes "dynamic positioning base" in Norway
Company News - March 2, 2012
To meet the growing demand for dynamic positioning (DP) services in the North Sea and broaden the reach of the company's global offshore offering, GL Noble Denton has established a dedicated DP team at its offices in Stavanger, Norway.
The company already serves a wide range of clients from its DP centres in Aberdeen,
Houston, Singapore and Abu Dhabi, and has ambitious plans for growth from its new Norway base.
GL Noble Denton provides a full range of technical and assurance services to operators across the world, including: failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA), proving trials, annual DP trials, DP operational procedures, competency assurance and capability analysis.
The company provides these services for a wide variety of offshore support vessels, from large drill ships to smaller high-speed offshore crewboats.
Commenting on the opening of the Stavanger DP base, GL Noble Denton's Director for Dynamic Positioning, Bob Thomson said: "We expect the demand for DP services in Norway to grow significantly in the coming years due to higher levels of investment in exploration and a rise in new construction projects in the North Sea.
"As the number of Norway-based oil companies expands in this sector, the level of DP
services that they require will also intensify.
"Significant growth in the demand for GL Noble Denton's technical advice has led to the opening of the dedicated new Norway DP base. While GL Noble Denton previously served the region from its Aberdeen-based DP operations, we're delighted to now be able to offer dedicated DP services to operators from Stavanger."
Within its first two weeks of operation, GL Noble Denton's Norway dynamic positioning team have secured a number of major projects, including annual DP trials, crane FMEAs and craft inspection services on supply vessels and drilling fleets.
