OIG appoints Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice Chairman

Offshore Installation Group (OIG) has strengthened its senior management team.
Steve Preston will join the company in the position of Chief Executive Officer and John Smith will join the company as Executive Vice Chairman. Both will take up their positions in March 2012.
Steve Preston joins OIG from Heerema Marine Contractors where he has been Executive Vice President, Commercial & Technology for the past 12 years responsible for the Group’s worldwide commercial and business development activities.
He brings over 35 years industry experience to OIG with a strong background in commercial negotiations, engineering and project management. He is a past President and active board member of the International Marine Contractors Association.
Mr Smith joins OIG from Clough where, as CEO since August 2007, he led a successful turnaround operation. He is a chartered mechanical engineer with 30 years of international oil and gas experience from bases in the UK, Norway and Australia.
He has held engineering, project management, commercial and general management roles and was the inaugrual CEO and a director of Subsea7 until his appointment at Clough. John preceded Steve Preston as President of the International Marine Contractors Association.
