TransAtlantic takes delivery on icebreaking AHTSVessel & ROV News // January 16, 2012
TransAtlantic has taken delivery of Brage Viking, an icebreaking AHTS vessel built by Astilleros Zamakona SA shipyard in Spain.
Brage Viking is the last newbuild in a series of fou built at the Spanish shipyard. The vessels are designed to meet demands for efficient, safe and environmentally friendly offshore management in areas with severe ice conditions, such as the Barents sea.
The Ice 1A classed vessel is also equipped to operate as a standby vessel, and for oil recovery, and meets Clean Design standards. It has a deck area of 750m2, and is 85m in length with a beam of 22m and deadweight of 4,500 tonnes.
