HMC creates new records in Gulf of Mexico

    News // July 9, 2004
Heerema Marine Contractors has created two new records in the offshore oil and gas industry during its ongoing campaigns in the Gulf of Mexico.

A new heavy lift record was achieved with its vessel DCV Thialf during the major lifts for the Holstein Spar. Of the nine lifts, the dry weight of the North module was 7,564 tonnes, making it the heaviest lift in this region.

At the same time DCV Balder was creating another record for the industry with the installation of the first Steel Catenary Riser (SCR) for the Mad Dog Spar.

Hein Mulder, CEO for HMC said: "These are significant achievements both for HMC and the industry. The boundaries are constantly being pushed further and further out by our clients and we are proud of our ability to achieve these results. There is no doubt these are clear demonstrations of HMC's unique abilities to meet the ever demanding challenges of Deepwater installation."
