Former Shell CEO Jeroen van der Veer to open Van Aalst group headquarters

    Company News // September 12, 2011

Jeroen van der Veer, former CEO of Royal Dutch Shell, will perform the official opening of the new Van Aalst Group headquarters and R&D/training centre in Dordrecht, the Netherlands.

Van Aalst is a specialist in the field of tank systems and loading/discharging solutions for the shipping and offshore supply sector.

Van Aalst Group's CEO Wijnand van Aalst said: "We are delighted that Mr Van der Veer, as former oil industry frontman, has agreed to participate in the opening ceremony.

We see it as a confirmation of our company's role as an active innovator in the offshore industry supply sector."

The Van Aalst Group includes Van Aalst Marine & Offshore, Mulder Europe and CargoMaxx, which three operating companies will share the new headquarters in Dordrecht.

Behind the office building, a new R&D/training centre has also been established featuring a full scale ship loading/unloading installation.

A 300m hose connection to a 40m high platform serves for simulation training of loading and unloading bulk cargo like cement or drill cuttings.

"With this facility, we will be able to provide our customers in the supply sector with ultra realistic training for their personnel. In addition, we will use the R&D centre for testing and development purposes in our ongoing effort to innovate and provide the industry with even better solutions," said Mr van Aalst.
