Four new safety posters and one new safety card from IMCAPublications // July 7, 2011
Four new safety posters have been published by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA).
‘Look where you are going’, ‘Use tools and equipment properly’, ‘Watch out for pinch points’ and ‘Take care on stairs’ are designed to provide instant information.
Each has two cartoons, one showing the wrong way to conduct a task and the other the right way and can be understood in any language.
At the same time, IMCA has published the nineteenth in its series of pocket safety cards – ‘Hazard Identification’.
“We continue to strive to ensure a continuing improvement in the safety performance of the marine contracting sector to help our members achieve the zero-injury goal,” explained IMCA’s Technical Director, Jane Bugler.
“Zero injuries is, by its very nature, a hard target to meet. However, every incident has consequences - for the people involved, who may be injured, or worse, their families and colleagues, in terms of damage to equipment, through lost up-time and in financial and business terms for the company involved. For these reasons IMCA and its members continue to strive to eliminate incidents from our industry. These new safety posters, and safety card, are just one more arrow in our quiver to strive for that zero goal.”
There are now 10 IMCA safety posters, perfect for displaying at offshore work sites, setting out a few key points with eye-catching, specially commissioned illustrations. As well as the printed versions available for sale in sets of three posters at £5 for member companies and £10 for non-member companies, members can download the PDF versions and full commercial printing file sets, with space reserved for inclusion of company logos and references.
IMCA's pocket cards highlight important safety messages in a format that workers can keep at hand. Each addresses a specific aspect of offshore safety and provides a series of prompts and guidance on how a task can be completed safely, avoiding a variety of hazards - indeed, the latest in the series, IMCA Pocket Safety Card (PSC) 19, deals specifically with Hazard Identification.
Cards are sold in sets of one hundred at £25 for members and £100 for non-members. Just like the posters, members can download and customise the print files for their own use. Both cards and posters are subject to VAT.
