Seaway Heavy Lifting on schedule at Sheringham Shoal

    Projects and Operations // May 24, 2011

The newly-built 5,000 tonne heavy lift vessel (HLV) Oleg Strashnov sailed on schedule on 20 April for its maiden trip to the Sheringham Shoal offshore windfarm.

The vessel was loaded with four 220 tonne, 25m transition pieces, each with a diameter of 5m, that were then installed on foundation piles in water depths ranging from 15m to 22m.

Oleg Strashnov successfully completed the installation of the four transition pieces as scheduled, and returned to port to collect another load of transition pieces and foundation piles.

During the campaign, the HLV will shuttle between Vlissingen, The Netherlands and the Field, installing four piles and four transition pieces at a time.

In total, Seaway Heavy Lift's vessel is to install 71 transition pieces and 66 monopiles. .
