    Wilson Sons to build five vessels

    Fairplay (ww.fairplay.co.uk) reports that Brazilian-based shipping group Wilson, Sons is to receive US$19 million from the Brazilian Merchant Marine Fund (FMM) to build five new tugs at yards in Brazil, it was announced at the Intermodal South America conference this week.

    Wilson, Sons has 60 tugs already in operation, and is the biggest tug operator in South America. It also runs a shipyard in Guaruja, near Santos.

    Another US$1.9 million is to be loaned by BNDES, which administers the FMM,to Wilson, Sons so that it can upgrade its Estaleiro shipyard. It will thenbe able to construct 3,000-tonne PSVs for the Brazilian oil industry.
