    Metalships delivers offshore construction vessel for North Sea Shipping

    North Sea Giant is one of the largest vessels of its type in the world.

    Spanish shipyard Metalships & Docks has delivered a the multipurpose offshore construction vessel North Sea Giant to Norwegian owner North Sea Shipping.

    The vessel is one of the largest of its type in the worl, and has an overall length of 156m, a 30m beam and in excess of 22MW of installed power.

    The vessel has accommodation for 120. Its structure is highlighted by its helipad on the bow and the bridge which is placed on the sixth deck of the vessel. The vessel boasts a working deck area of close to 3,000m2.

    Gaint is currently at Kristiansand where its huge deck cranes are expected to become operational in a few weeks.

    The shipyard, located in Vigo, Spain, has its work load assured until January 2013, after recently signing contracts for two more offshore vessels, one with J Ray McDermott and one with Technip.
