Dynamic Positioning Conference - October 11-12, 2011 - Call for Papers

    Organisations and Associations // February 14, 2011

The Dynamic Positioning (DP) Committee of the Marine Technology Society has announced the date of the 2011 Conference and issued a Call for Papers.

The Annual Conference will be held in Houston at the Westchase Hilton October 11-12, 2011.

An optional workshop on Operational Issues will be hosted the day prior to the conference on Monday October 11, at the same location.

Those interested in presenting papers are invited to submit abstracts online through the website at, by April 15, 2011.

The Technical Committee has published a list of proposed sessions and topics which can be downloaded from the website. However, all abstracts of interest covering non commercial aspects of DP and its application will be considered.

With an anticipated attendance of around 300 industry professionals, the conference is recognized across the industry as the key source of technical expertise, providing an annual forum for collaboration and the exchange of knowledge, experience, technological advancement, and operational expertise amongst many of the leading operators and suppliers in the industry.

The conference also offers excellent opportunities for sponsors to show their support, and for exhibitors to showcase their products and services and meet with delegates.

Celebrating its 15th year, this year’s Conference coincides with the 50th anniversary of Dynamic Positioning.

Dynamic Positioning of vessels was first introduced in 1961 with the drill ship CUSS (Continental, Union, Shell and Superior Oil Consortium), and later the same year the drill ship Eureka, which was the first true DP vessel.
