Kleven to build MT 6009 L for OlympicVessel & ROV News // January 21, 2011
Olympic's new MT 6009 L will be delivered in September 2011.
Olympic Shipping has entered into a contract with Myklebust Verft, part of the Kleven Maritime group, for the delivery of a MT 6009 L offshore support vessel.
The vessel is to be built at the yard Myklebust Verft in Gursken, Norway, with delivery set for September 2011. The early delivery is made possible due to the fact that the yard will utilize a hull which is already built and ready for outfitting.
For the employees at Myklebust Verft this means that there is no need for layoffs at the yard, a situation which has been anticipated for some time.
Kleven said that prior to the contract a layoff period of 2-3 months was on the cards.
The vessel, designed by Norwegian design company Marin Teknikk, has an overall length of 79.7m, a beam of 16.8m, deck space of 745m2, and a deadweight of 3,500 tonnes.
The accommodation area has a capacity of 40 persons and the vessel will include facilities that will make it well suited to ROV and subsea construction work.
Kleven Maritime now has an orderbook of 11 vessels valued at NKr 4.5 billion.
