Leighton completes Devil Creek projectProjects and Operations // November 22, 2010
Leighton Offshore's Devil Creek project was recently completed in Australia, involving the installation of approximately 23km of 16in diameter gas pipeline.
The project was awarded in December 2009 and Leighton was responsible for the installation engineering and the Australianisation of the Leighton Stealth pipelay barge.
As part of extensive safety and environmental requirements for operating vessels in Australia, Stealth underwent significant modification works and is now one of few pipelay barges approved to work in the country.
Following on immediately from the Labuan Water Pipleine Project, the modification of Stealth was completed in Singapore against a challenging timeframe in order to meet the handover date to the client, SapuraAcergy.
The vessel was delivered in mid-September and commenced working in Dampier, Western Australia in early October.
The job was undertaken succesfully and completed in early November, to program and the clients full satisfaction.
