V.Ships takes on technical management of SampsonVessel & ROV News // November 17, 2010
V.Ships has taken on the role of technical managers for the newbuild DP3 field development vessel Sampson.
Sampson is equipped with a 1,600 tonnes Liebherr crane and a 200 tonnes MacGregor crane.
The vessel will soon be sailing to Asia where she will be fitted with a pipelaying system to add further functionality.
Currently, a V.Ships project team of four full time engineers is handling the conversion headed by Project Manager Iain Jack and Chief Project Engineer Eric McCole.
Sampson is the third vessel to be added to the Zafiro Marine fleet following delivery last year of sister-vessel OSA Goliath, which has been operating as a heavy lift vessel in the Gulf of Mexico for seven months.
Also in the same fleet is the DPII DSV Endeavour which has recently completed an IMR contract in West Africa and is currently under-going a dry-docking before redeployment.
All three vessels are managed by V.Ships Cyprus.
